Update...

2019 was almost like the good old days … Our Arwen Bohemian Rhapsody (“Freddie”), bred by Lisande Donohoe from Bohem bloodlines (her sire is Viggo, her dam is by Justin Time out of a Three Ring Circus daughter) won her first BOB and Group 3rd from the Puppy class, another BOB and Group 1st just a little later. She also won the AWC All-Sighthound Match in Lompoc under Jamie Souza and took both majors during the specialty weekend at Del Valle.

Freddie finished at Palm Springs the first weekend in 2020. The only weekend she has been specialled Freddie won another Hound Group. Then shows ceased to be held … but she will be back. She will turn 2 years old in early October and will be bred to our handsome English import “Lewis” later this year.

The puppies by Lewis out of GCh. Snow Hill Beyond Blonde at Bohem have done extremely well. Bohem Ben Evans (“Ollie”), owner Teresa Hamilton, won both majors at Del Valle and was WD & BOW at the Northern California Whippet Fanciers Association under judge Harold “Red” Tatro.

His sister Bohem Poppy Martin (co-owned with Lee Anne Bastian) has also taken several points and reserves, and won a major her first time lure coursing. The two that were sent to Europe have both won their Jr. Ch. titles and both been Best Junior in Show: Bohem Douglas Todd (“Charlie”, owner Nathalie Jaklewicz) has already two “adult” Group Firsts and Reserve BIS, while Bohem Molly Garrish (“Clara”, owner Monika Sepolowicz) also just needs an age qualifier for her “adult” champion title. Both are great ambassadors for American Whippets in Europe, and Charlie has already sired several promising litters.

The most important role that all Whippets should fulfill are as wonderful companions to their humans. We are of course also proud of the Bohem Whippets that are beloved pets without ever going to dog shows. Some of them could no doubt do as well in the show ring as the above, but are content to stay at home.
