About Bohem Whippets
Bo with puppies, early 1990s.
Bohem is one of the world’s oldest and most famous names in Whippets. It was established in Sweden more than 60 years ago, has been active in California since the early 80’s and is responsible for a long line of world-class winners. Yet Bohem has always been an extremely small operation. Visitors often expect a range of brood bitches and well-filled puppy runs, but the “kennel” now consists of only a couple of dogs at home, a couple of others co-owned with other enthusiasts, and sometimes a visitor staying for a few shows.
Throughout the years, Bohem has remained committed to the same ideal: a happy, healthy Whippet whose classic beauty derives from the long, curvy lines, the strong, well-angulated quarters and the smooth, low, powerful movement. Glamorous colors, attractive heads and showmanship are a bonus.
Showing and breeding has always been strictly a hobby and usually takes a back seat to other dog activities: judging, research, writing and publishing. We are no longer breeding on a regular basis, but if you are interested in a Bohem puppy, please contact Bo at the email link below. We are located in the small town of Ojai, about 15 minutes up the coast from Ventura, half-way between Los Angeles and Santa Barbara in Southern California.
While not participating in organized racing or coursing in recent years, many Bohem bred Whippets in other ownerships have earned field titles of various kinds.
