How It Started

A lifelong involvement with purebred dogs began in Sweden in 1959 with the acquisition of an Afghan Hound bitch puppy. She became a champion and produced the first pair of homebred Bohem champions in the mid-1960s. The first Whippet arrived from England in 1961. The rest is history.

Other successful stud dogs were also imported from the U.K. by Bohem, including Int. Ch. Badgewood Mark Twain (UK Ch. Laguna Limelight x Bromholm Badgewood Allegheny, by UK Ch. Laguna Ligonier), shown by Bo but co-owned with Seeberga Whippets, and Int. Ch. Shalfleet Starbuck (UK, Am., Can. Ch. Laguna Leisure x UK Ch. Shalfleet Starstruck, by UK Ch. Evening Star of Always), also shown by Bo but later transferred to the Bojars Whippets. Between them, these dogs raised the breed’s level of quality in Scandinavia in the 1960s and '70s to such a degree that it was often commented on by visiting international judges.
